Biochar
Biochar is a charcoal-like material made from organic waste, such as agricultural residues or wood chips. It is produced by heating biomass in the absence of oxygen and forms a porous substance that does not degrade. When added to soil, it acts as a carbon sink by storing carbon while simultaneously improving soil health.
Direct Air Capture (DAC)
Using specialized machinery, Direct Air Capture projects use chemical processes or absorbent materials to capture carbon dioxide molecules directly from the air. These are then separated and stored or utilized for other purposes like carbon storage or industrial processes.
Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW)
Building on a natural process, Enhanced Rock Weathering speeds up the formation of limestone (which is made from a chemical reaction between worn-down rock compounds and carbonic acid in rainwater), soaking up CO2 in the process.
