Companies are funding high integrity carbon removal (CDR) projects to reach their net-zero goals, whilst making sure their capital achieves the highest impact.
But what is ‘impact’?
There is currently no single source of truth to define and verify the impact of carbon removal
Buyers
There is no clear definition or understanding of 'impact' when procuring carbon credits
Frameworks
There are no frameworks which combine carbon removal and impact which go beyond 'do no harm'
Market
There have been scandals connected to carbon projects, largely due to unclear guidelines surrounding 'impact'
We took on the mission to develop a holistic and robust framework to measure carbon removal projects based on their overall impact, enabling companies to de-risk their carbon removal journey, while catalysing impact.
Carbon removal
with catalytic impact
Impact is not just a tick box exercise. We believe impact is a running thread between these key stakeholder groups, allowing buyers of CDR to reduce their risk by incorporating impact into portfolios, ensuring carbon projects deliver impact on the ground and beyond, and accelerating the carbon markets, creating industry impact. For us, this is truly carbon removal with catalytic impact.
Deep dive into research
We have researched and combed through current frameworks, standards, guidelines and methodologies which exist for 'impact'. After much consideration, we selected the quantitive frameworks and guidelines which we feel capture the essence of 'impact', including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Yes, impact is uniquely specific to both projects and companies (buyers) but it can't be an afterthought.

Sourcing expertise from the field
Insights from 30+ experts
We carefully selected over 30 experts in the carbon and climate ecosystem across scientists, advocates, enablers, developers and buyers of carbon removal to assess what 'impact' means for them. These meaningful qualitative insights allowed us to create a well-rounded voice for what 'impact' means across universal fields.
Identified 5 key categories
After completing the research and insights, we developed our own holistic and robust 5-category impact framework, defining what 'impact' looks like through the lens of carbon removal, allowing buyers of CDR to assess carbon projects based on their level of impact (Carbon, Innovation, Environment, Economic and Social).
